Add a new regional bird list

The Bird Guides page contains links to regional birding guides and bird lists. The page names need to be unique and will be indexed by placing a category of [[Category:Birding guides]] on the page. So the index will make sense the name should be the region plus something like "birding guide". See Texas for an example.

The regional bird list can be a single list of birds or a list of family names which in turn list the birds for the family. In order to index the lists the page name should be the region name plus "bird list" and contain a category of [[Category:Bird lists]].

1. Add the top-level page to the regional guide page.
   • Edit Bird Guides by Region and add a unique list name in an appropriate place in the geographic hierarchy. Save the change.
2. Create a regional or list page.
   • Click on the new link on the regional guide page to edit the page.
   • Add the content including navigational links. The example for Texas follows.

   • Save the changes
3. If the above page was a regional guide page then create the family list page.
   • Click on the bird guide link on the region page to edit the family list page.
   • Add the navigation section at the top with the appropriate links.
   • Add the list of bird families found in the region
     • Pick an appropriate and unique region code. Preferably show the geographic hierarchy in the code in case there should be conflicts later.
     • Each link should include the link to the page with the region code. Example:
       • [[Red-throated Loon (us-tx)|Red-throated Loon]] (''[[Gavia stellata]]'')
       • An exception for this is if the bird pages won't contain any regional information. If this is the case then the region code isn't needed and the bird pages can be linked to directly. See Gaviidae (NA) for an example of this.

Create the regional bird page

• Click on the link to the bird in the family page to edit the regional bird page
• Add the region information
• Include the general bird page.

• Include appropriate categories
