Help:What WikiBird is not

WikiBird is not an encyclopedia

The model for WikiBird is closer to a field guide where the descriptions of a bird are concise and in a consistent location for quick reference. If more information is needed there should be a link to another pages with the extra information. You also might consider adding the information to Wikipedia or Wikispecies.

WikiBird is not a repository of links, images, or media files

There is nothing wrong with adding a list of content-relevant links; however, excessive lists can dwarf articles and detract from the purpose of WikiBird. Images for bird descriptions should be limited to those necessary to demonstrate various plumages. If more then a few images are needed there should be a link to another page with the extra images.

WikiBird is not a democracy

WikiBird is not an experiment in democracy. Its primary method of finding consensus is discussion, not voting. In difficult cases, straw polls may be conducted to help determine consensus, but are to be used with caution and not to be treated as binding votes. The WikiBird board will consider issues to make the guides as useful as possible.
